And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Jesus Christ was crucified with two criminals, one to His left and the other to His right. One of the criminals decided to mock Jesus, but the other rebuked him for being insensitive. They were being crucified for crimes they committed, but as for Jesus, He did no wrong, yet he suffered the same punishment meted out to criminals.
What’s interesting about this criminal is His hope of being with Jesus in paradise. And he did not just believe it was possible, he actually proceeded to ask Jesus for that opportunity. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:7,
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
And the assurance of knowing if your hope of salvation is certain is captured by the apostle Paul in Romans 10:13 thus,
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
It does not matter who you are today or how big you think your sin is compared to others, because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Sin is sin and does not come in shapes or sizes. However, when you repent and call upon the Lord Jesus He shall save you. Just like the criminal on the cross, we need to acknowledge our fault, our sin and repent for the Lord will save us.
You don’t need to think yourself too far from God’s salvation through Jesus Christ, He’s actually near to you.
Repent for the Salvation of the Lord is here.
