I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel of Christ
In a previous post I talked about how a Samaritan woman shared her encounter with her town folks and they also came to meet Jesus and believed in Him. The people pleaded with Jesus to stay with them and He did. He ministered to them and many believed in Him. Just like these Samaritans who were eager to know about Jesus because of what they heard from the woman, there are many unbelievers who are eager for salvation. They hunger and thirst after righteousness. And you, the child of God is the one who can lead them to the source and sustainer of life. You are the one who can tell these many wandering souls of the good news of God’s grace.
The import of what I shared was to lay a simple message that all of us are ambassadors for Christ wherever we are and we can avail ourselves to be used by God to spread the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
I have indicated the fact that many of us think evangelism or soul winning is a duty for a select few. Maybe our reason for that argument might be because of the words; evangelism, soul winning or witnessing. It’s just words. These words might sound too big with a very heavy task associated with it. The easiest way to understand what this post seeks to express is that each and every one of us as Christians is to simply share what we believe. Just share the joy you feel inside as a child of God, born of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ. Share your testimony to save others.
But if you still think it’s not your duty or responsibility to share your faith with others because you feel you are not educated enough, then let me remind you of a fisherman who shared his faith and in a day 3000 souls were won for Christ. Read Acts 2:14-42
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Acts 2:41
You don’t need to be afraid of sharing your faith in Jesus. And you should not wait to be told by your Pastor its Evangelism Day/Month before you take the initiative to speak to others about Christ. It’s a responsibility of all Christians to share their faith in Jesus to save others from sin, its guilt and power. And as indicated in the previous post, we are Ambassadors for Christ. And as Ambassadors we have a responsibility of representing Christ in the right way, so that by our life and conduct God will be glorified. God is reconciling the world through us, and we should not shirk that responsibility.
This is what Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” What do you also say?
Ready at All Times
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15
In summary, just avail yourself and the Lord will glorify Himself through your testimony of His Goodness. We have no power to save anybody, but God will work through our testimonies by the power of the Holy Spirit to save the people we minister to.
Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ! Let’s have a conversation about this. Comment below and let me know your thoughts as well on this subject matter.
